CHOIR- Hello, co-teachers! I am pleased to come alongside you to teach your children how to make a joyful noise unto the Lord! The "homework" this week, there is homework for you! Please watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xPiIvdo5jg. I want you to watch this, so you have an understanding of what we are doing in choir. Next week, students will receive a black three-ring binder with 32 copies of their practice logs. They will turn these in each week, along with any other paper homework that may be assigned throughout the year. They need to be initialed by YOU! Please determine which time is best for your child(ren) to study the music and musical concepts we will learn each Friday. Remember, I only expect a bare minimum of 10 minutes daily (5 days each week)! There is an incentive program this year for practicing and turning in practice logs. I pray this incentive program will foster an internal appreciation for consistent study. It will give students the ability to compete against their peers and the entire school of grammar. It will also instill a desire to better themselves. Students can gain points towards a prize bucket; the class with the most points at the end of the school year will win a special treat TBD; and the three students with the most points will receive special rewards. This incentive program is primarily focused on developing consistent practice, but students can also gain or lose points based on classroom behavior: whether that is remembering to raise one's hand, answering a question correctly, or having an "off" day, (I tend to focus on positive reinforcement.) For convenience, I am posting the words and RECORDINGS to each song here for students to learn and memorize. Please be advised the melody of all songs (except "Four Voices" and "Estrellita, Donde Estas?") are currently sung on Sol and Mi. This is done to train young ears, and it will become difficult much more rapidly for the older grades. Please also be on the lookout for an email from me sometime soon regarding (hopefully) the makings of fall and spring performances. There may be a survey to assess interest and availabilty. I pray everyone had a wonderful first week of school. Let's Go, Falcons! - Mrs. Pamplin, Choir (PS if you need to reach me, my phone number is 210-848-5929. If you haven't yet, please text me your name, email, and child(ren)'s name and grade level). | |||||||
